Gretchen Mishek was born and raised in the St. Paul area of Minnesota, announcing early in life that she intended to be a meteorologist.  She graduated from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fl where she majored in Meteorology and minored in Mathematics and Physics.Gretchen Mishek  During her junior year of college she was enrolled at the renowned University of Edinburgh in Scotland where she studied Physics as well as Meteorology.  Her experience included work to improve severe storms forecasting at the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratories in the Hurricane Research Division under its current director, Dr. Frank Marks.  Her research contributed to a published paper examining rainfall amounts in tropical cyclones.  Gretchen got her first taste of the television industry during a weather internship with KMSP-TV in Minneapolis, MN.  Weather Central, Inc., headquartered in Madison, WI became the next beneficiary of Gretchen's talents.  While working for Weather Central, she trained television meteorologists and managed the implementation of weather graphics systems in 35 states from Maine to Hawaii as well as in Canada, Latin America and the UK.  In addition to local stations,  she has also made technological and aesthetic contributions to three major networks (ABC, NBC and Univision).  She has helped TV stations in every corner of the US to become more competitive in their market by introducing them to hardware, software, and graphics innovations in weather broadcasting.  Gretchen was recently married and lives in Shakopee, MN with her husband and their Golden Doodle, Wilbur.
